Warehouseman – City Shop

SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the City Auto Maintenance Director, employee will carry out all directives and daily tasks as assigned.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Orders parts & supplies for Auto Maintenance Shop as needed
  • Orders parts for other department vehicles as needed
  • Enter work orders and parts/supply details into Fleet Maintence program.
  • Answer Phones, Take Messages & Transfer calls
  • Other Clerical Work as necessary
  • Pickup/Drop Off vehicles as directed
  • Communicate regularly with other departments and vendors
  • Schedule viewing and pickup of vehicles and equipment sold at auction as directed
  • Performs duties within work rules and safety policies of the City.
  • May perform related duties as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of office and break room areas
  • Periodic opportunity for overtime hours, with director approval


Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:

High School Diploma OR GED equivalent 

Knowledge of:

  • Basic Knowledge of Vehicle Parts and Supplies
  • Computer Skills: Windows OS, Excel, Word, etc. and willingness to learn

Possess Skills in:

  • Lifting and transporting materials and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Good Customer Service & Clear Communication Skills a must
  • Using patience, tact, diplomacy, and courtesy in dealing with the public and employees.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including City and other government officials, community groups, and the general public; and applying safe work practices.


  • Possession of a valid, unrestricted, Mississippi driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have dependable transportation
  • Must be able to work 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday – Friday
