Pearl, Miss-Pearl Police have charged Edward DeLawrence McWilliams, 42, of Richland, with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Herbert Redmond, 25, of Jackson, at the Wendy’s on Pearson Road Thursday night.

Officers responded to the restaurant just before 8:30 p.m. after a report of a fight between two employees in the kitchen area. Redmond had been stabbed in the neck and died at the scene. McWilliams was taken into custody at the restaurant without incident.

Investigators recovered the knife, which belonged to McWilliams.

McWilliams is being held at the Rankin County Detention Center without bond. McWilliams is a convicted felon that served time in the Mississippi Department of Corrections for armed robbery and manslaughter.

The case has been turned over to Rankin County District Attorney Bubba Bramlett for prosecution.
