Shooting Suspect Dies

Pearl, Miss-The Pearl Police Department has been notified that 19-year-old Ryan Moody, who fired shots at an officer on June 28 at the Highlands Trailer Park, died from his injuries.

Police received several 9-1-1 calls from residents at 6 p.m. of shots fired during a domestic dispute between Moody and a woman. When the first officer arrived, Moody fired several shots at the officer’s vehicle. The officer returned fire from inside his car, striking Moody. Moody was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson where he died from his injuries on Saturday. June 29. Neither the officer nor the woman involved in the domestic dispute were injured.

The officer is on standard administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation being conducted by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI).
