Jayson Hopton was presented with a Mayor’s Award for his quick thinking in the early morning hours of Dec. 10. The 11-year-old alerted his parents at 4 a.m. that a nearby house next door was on fire. Jayson’s quick thinking allowed for a fast response from the fire dept. to keep the flames from spreading to neighboring homes. Pearl Fire Chief Brad Thornton and Mayor Jake Windham presented the award to the Hopton family at Central Station. Thank you Jayson!
