JOB DESCRIPTION

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Under the general supervision from the Parks and Recreation Director and Assistant Director, this labor position performs daily duties essential to the upkeep and operation of the park to enhance the quality of life of the Pearl Community from a recreational approach.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Responsible for the opening and closing of park facilities on a daily basis
  • Performing housekeeping and janitorial duties inside and outside of the restrooms
  • Cleaning all areas of the park including the walking trail, and tennis courts by picking up trash and debris
  • Trimming, pruning and maintaining the landscaping areas in the park including grass areas, flower beds, shrubbery and trees
  • Assisting with Parks and Recreation programs being held at the park
  • Assisting the public in a kind and courteous manner representative of the City values
  • Monitoring activities and conduct of park visitors
  • Greeting park visitors
  • Reporting any repairs and maintenance items needed in all areas of the park

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Driver’s license
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Experience in facility maintenance
  • Must be able to work a variety of hours including Sunday-Saturday, daytime and evenings
  • Must be able to work on weekends and holidays
  • Must have the ability to work and communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, the public, and other departments and organizations
  • Must have the ability to follow written and oral instructions

  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with arms and hands.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • While performing duties of this job, the employee works near moving mechanical parts or in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in the office or moderately noisy when outside in the field or recreation facilities.
