Established in June 1973 with six officers, The Pearl Police Department is the tenth largest city police department in the state. All officers are equipped with modern equipment list dual-antennae radar. The police are furnished body armor and require its usage. The department carries updated Glock .22 Semi-Automatic sidearms.

All vehicles are furnished with traffic direction equipment and shotguns and each has an 800 band Primary Radio with Hi-band backup. Officers that live in the city also have take home units.
